Truly, it has been an honor seeing this wonderful and special day through my lens! It is truly such a privilege to be a christening photographer in Cyprus as this day has a special importance in people’s lives, both as a religious, and a social and family event.
When shooting christening and baptism ceremonies, I use the same candid approach as with my family portrait photography. I try to be as unobtrusive and discreet as possible. I think it’s important to start the shoot before the ceremony, and I normally ask the godparents and the parents to arrive 30 minutes earlier at the church in order to capture small details and family portraits. After a beautiful and heart-warming ceremony at the wonderful Phaneromeni Church in Nicosia, we walked to the Palia Ilektriki restaurant, were we took more family portraits that will be added to Theodoros’ flush-mount album.
