Once the shoot is complete, that is when our hardest work begins. Retouching is the laborious editing process through which every photo is properly color balanced, retouched for perfect skin, and artistically finished to create magazine quality images. This is a detailed process of precision, and artistic vision.
The video below is a time-lapse (15 times faster than in reality) recording of the retouching of a maternity portrait:
Our digital darkroom facility follows the guidelines of ISO3664 and ISO12646 which establish viewing-conditions standards for computer image-editing facilities.
When it comes to retouching, we leave absolutely nothing to chance. While editing your photos, we need to see on our studio monitors your photographs as they will be when printed on paper or canvas.
This is not a trivial task. It can however be achieved through various calibration procedures which we repeat on a weekly basis using precision calibrator devices. This ensures that all our monitors have a perfect color match between each other, as well as with the printed result. For the most color-accurate results we also follow the ISO specifications which regard the use of special light sources for viewing and inspecting our prints.
In fact, unless you are using a professional calibrated monitor right now, you cannot see the images on this website in their full glory. If you like what you see on your screen now, believe us when we tell you that you will fall in love with the printed result!
