Any session with children is challenging, especially when the child is very young and communication is limited. There is an element of luck involved and I have to be ready to capture it (this is why I am a big fan of my camera’s burst mode!)
Straight out of camera
As you can see in the images below (both of which are Straight-Out-Of-Camera unedited images), the mother looks great in the second image and the baby’s expression is so much better in the first image. Both images were taken with a couple of seconds difference (which is an indication of how quickly a 3-month-old can switch expressions)! The faces had to therefore be swapped to create the final image. If you are wondering what the father is doing in the bottom-right, he is being super helpful by blowing air into the mother’s hair using a hair-dryer!

The two images above are combined by swapping the faces, the father was removed, the backdrop filled, and the image retouched and colour-graded!
